Care of drapes and decorative
fabrics
It may be necessary to adapt the following recommendations on care
to special factors depending on the fabric and the general facilities available on site.
Preparation
Take off rollers to avoid snagging in the wash. Wash drapes and
decorative fabrics separately. Small full-chamber machines are best (without sub-division)
up to a nominal 18 kg load. Only load with a third of the usual quantity.
First stage of programme
load/liquor: 1:7 to 1:8
water temperature: up to 30°C
additives: 20-35 g/kg normal
wash,detergent with non-ionic components
treatment time: 10-15 minutes
Intermediate rinse
with heavily soiled drapes it is worth
recommending an intermediate rinse adding 10 ml/kg caustic soda for bleaching (15 %)
load/liquor 1:7 to 1:8
water temperature: up to 30°C
treatment time: 5 - 10 minutes
Second stage
load/liquor 1:7 to 1:8
water temperature: normal wash 30 - 40°C
disinfectant wash 55 - 60°C (use soft
water)
additives: normal wash 10 -15 g/kg
normal wash on non-ionic basis
Disinfectant wash with thermo-chemical products according to the regulations in para. 10c
of the BSG (Federal Legislation on Disease)
treatment time: approx. 10 minutes
Rinsing
load/liquor 1: 8 with hard water
water temperature: allow to cool slowly
to approx. 20°C
additives: a bleach-rinsing agent can be
added to the last rinse at a concentration of max. 5g/kg load. Avoid exceeding this ratio
at all costs.
spin: spin gently leaving 50% moisture
residue
Drying and pressing
Hang out directly to dry: no folding. Use of tumbler dryer is
possible, load ratio about 1:40 (one third of usual amount). Dry to expelled temperature
of 80°C. Then ventilate until completely cool. Hang out immediately after removal from
dryer or spread out without folding. Where drapes remain in this state for considerable
lengths of time, they may need re-damping and pressing.
Dry cleaning
Is possible with perchlorethylene under easy care conditions.
Sewing repairs
Use only branded polyester sewing threads. Reduce tension of sewing
machine. Stitch count: approx. 4 - 5 stitches/cm.
